They'll Laugh at You. They'll all Laugh at You!

I am an idiot. Jack loves preschool and this morning he got up and showered and we did his hair and brushed his teeth and picked out a cute outfit for him to wear and then I looked at the preschool calendar and noticed that today was the day for his pajama party. So I got him out of his clothes and into his favorite Optimus Prime pajamas and packed his pillow in his backpack and sent him out the door to the carpool. About a half an hour later I started thinking...maybe I looked at that calendar wrong. Sure enough, the PJ party is on MONDAY! I just sent my child to school in his pajamas!!! I worried the whole time he was gone that I had ruined his reputation at Jellybeen Junction and that he would now be branded for life as the weird kid who wears his pajamas to school. Or worse, that someone would call DCFS on me that I neglect my child and just let him roll out of bed and into the carpool. Well, when he came home he seemed as happy as usual. I asked him if he was OK with the mistake and he said, "No, mom. The kids laughed at me. Mom, you should have known." My poor child. Is this just the beginning of a life of humiliation with me as his mother?

I'm surprised the kids noticed. Wouldn't all preschoolers wear strange things if we let them? Mine would/does.

At least you had the foresight to look at the calendar, even if it was the wrong day. Look at the bright side, he is socially aware enough to recognize that the children were laughing at him and why. Lots of kids wouldn't pick up on that. :) Moms rule!

So funny! Your posts always make me smile... He seems like a kid who is wiser than his years.

There was a mom in her PJ's at McDonalds the other day. I wonder if her kids thought it was strange. Mine did. I kept thinking that perhaps there was a reason, and I shouldn't judge - but apparently I am shallow. Put on some jeans, people!

That's right - make those future counseling sessions worth it!!!!

Love that story. I think I may start doing that on my preschool calendars just to see which parents read it, follow directions, ask for help, fall apart in the corner sucking their thumb! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Just tell Jack that I am laughing at you right now!

I am actually shocked that the other kids weren't jealous. Maybe I am oblivious, but I wore pj's at least 3 days a week when I was in college, and nobody laughed at me...to my face, anyway.

Since I wrote this post, my mom bought Jack some new special pajamas so that he would have some to wear to the actual party. He's glad somebody has his back.

I love it! Talk to Rylee this is just the beginning of embarresment for your kids. Parker however would love to wear his optimus PJs to school and would not blink an eye. Jack is an old soul. Well this can all be avoided by Mom's driving carpool.
