High Testosterone Levels Measured at Campsite
I wasn't there, so I can only speak second-hand for the events that took place on Friday night at our ward's Fathers and Sons campout. As you can see here, my boys thought it was great. My favorite comment about it from Targhee was, "Any mother there would have been freaking out at the number of flaming sticks, marshmallows and general roughhousing near the fire." It sounds like a very neanderthal experience. Lots of fire and grunting. I worried that Evan would be too young for such an outing, but aparantly he loved it. Both boys slept through the night and said they had a great time with their dad. No crying for Mom! I enjoyed a night out with a friend, including a meal that I could eat hot and without getting up to cut something, refill something or wash hands or the floor. Those meals are rare for me.
On a somewhat unrelated item, you can see here, Jack sleeps in his skivvies even camping. Anyone who lives within a 2 block radius of our home knows that Jack spends 22-23 hours a day in only his underwear. Since he was about 2 years old "clothes make him too hot." I can keep him dressed at the store and I think he kept his clothes on at school for the most part, but otherwise, he strips down as soon as possible. Even in the middle of winter he does this. I think perhaps he will have his body temperature conditioned to swim the English Channel soon. We have tried to use shame as a deterrent to going outside in his underwear. That doesn't work yet as it was proven to me a few days ago when Jack told me, "Mom, I don't care if people laugh at me when they see me in my underwear. Some people just drove by on a motorcycle and laughed, but I don't care." I think this topic was on my mind because I noticed today that he is developing a tan line around his underwear. Come on over, Cops, were ready for you.

You guys are sure raising one brave kid. I won't be surprised if/when Evan starts taking after big brother.
Glad you guys had fun at Fathers and Sons. I would have gone but I had to build a bunch of stuff. Maybe I'll go next year or whenever I sire a man child, whichever comes first.
Also, I just realized I'm supposed to be at PEC and I'm leaving comments on blogs.
It takes a lot to make me laugh out loud and I laughed out loud three times reading this post. Then I go to leave a comment and I laugh out loud reading Joe's comment. Reading this blog is good for my health.

OK, that settles it. Kevin is going to be forced to Fathers and Sons whether he likes it or not! The night out and a hot meal sounds too good!!!
I love that Jack is Captain Underwear himself! At least he is confident, right? As long as he isn't the creepy teenager that hangs out in his skivvies, I don't think anyone will mind. ;) Your boys are too cute!
I think it was a frazzled mom who invented father and sons nights. Whoever she is--I love her. True campers those boys! I'm glad that you had a bit of a girlie retreat, too. I bet you missed them at night, though. Maybe not during the sleeping part, but certainly when you first went to bed and first woke up. You know it's true. :)
First of all - what potty training method did you use? I desperately need advice! That's just amazing! Congratulations!!! And about Jack's preference of clothing, or shall I say no clothing, it must be a boy thing. Just wait a couple years when he's 6 like Ethan and likes to read Captain Underpants and thinks of himself as Captain Underpants. At least that is his most recent excuse for being too hot in his clothes.
