House Box

When we were kids my dad was great at locating "house boxes." I remember playing in more than one refrigerator box, but I know we didn't ever get a new refrigerator. We would spend hours designing the box with windows and doors and arranging our blankets and toys inside. Of course the box seemed so much bigger then. Anyway, I think my children have inherited the love for the house box. We haven't gone as far as to get them a refrigerator box yet, but anytime there is a delivery or discarded diaper box, Jack and Evan are all over it. These house boxes are built for their "pets" (stuffed animals) and if I kept all the house boxes that have been built for these pets we would have an entire stuffed animal condo complex. Del Boxa Vista Phase 2. Sunday has been our house box construction day recently. I don't mind the mess since they play nicely together and can be creative. It is lots of fun to watch if you don't mind the incessant sound of butter knives sawing on cardboard.

I also made some pretty fancy houses out of boxes when I was young! Only for some reason, I was allowed to use much more dangerous knives to construct mine.

By the way, I CANNOT believe Drew is already the ripe old age of 2.

You can make great airplanes out of them as well!

Happy Birthday Drew!!

My kids love boxes too. In fact sometime I think I should save my money and just go to the recyle binds to scavange boxes. You are a better Mom than me. I hate the mess so they are banished to the basement.
