Jack "Graduates"

Barack Obama was the guest a few years ago on a favorite radio show of mine, NPR's "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me." He was catching some criticism at the time for a comment he had made to the press mocking the ridiculous obsession we seem to have in our country with graduation ceremonies. He mentioned preschool and even an 8th grade graduation he had been invited to. He said, "What do you graduate to after the 8th grade, the Dairy Queen?" I thought that was funny and so true. Not that I don't think it is incredibly cute and always highly entertaining to attend a preschool graduation (especially that of my beautiful 5 yr old boy!) Click on the collage above to see the pics in detail.

There is one picture here with his special friend, Summer. He would tell me the compliments that he would give her at school. One day he said, "Mom, today at the drinking fountain I told Summer that she looked lovely today." Looks like he is already learnin' the moves with the ladies. I told Targ about that and he said, "Well, at least we know he likes girls." He is off to Kindergarten in the fall and he is so excited. Don't worry, though. Evan starts preschool this year and there will be plenty more graduation celebrations to be had!

I love preschool graduations! Nursery rhymes are best recited by small children. Glad to see Jack lookin' so handsome and happy. I have to agree with Targee on the "at least we know he likes girls" side of things. :) Evan goes to preschool in the fall? Man...

Congrats, Jack! Not only did you graduate, but you took your first step to success in this world: dressing appropriately for graduation! (thanks Julie)
