Summer's End Has Us In Stitches
I should just be embarrassed about that title. About two weeks ago Jack was going potty and Evan was keeping him company by sitting in the dry tub and singing and providing other sound effects (like any good brother would). Suddenly Jack came running out of the bathroom in a panic telling me that Evan was "bleeding all over!" Sure enough Evan had cut his forehead and, as head wounds do, he was bleeding up a storm. I could tell that it would proabably require stitches, but I knew he wasn't going to die. I was holding Evan, who was remarkably calm and trying to get Jack to settle down. He was running around freaking out about the blood and telling me that we needed to call Grandma (because we all know she is the only one who knows how to deal with any major injury), when the phone rang and Jack beat me to it. He can't read, so he didn't know who it was, but he answered it saying, "Evan is bleeding all over, there is blood all over the bathroom! Oh, the blood! There is so much blood!" (something to that effect). Luckily it was Targhee and not Grandma. I really couldn't help but laugh at Jack's complete panic (at one point he was climbing up and down the ladder of his bunk bed, not knowing what to do with himself. Hilarious.) Anyway, 3 stitches later and Evan was a new man. He never once cried at the doctor and laid still on his back for the whole procedure. What a little angel! Love him, love him , love him! He had the stitches out 5 days later and was able to enjoy the last week of summer at Mommy's pool. Now he just has a nice band-aid shaped tan line on his head.

Oh the blood...I didn't realize Jack was totally freaking out about it. I had to chuckle about how he answered the phone. What a funny kid. Maybe you aren't so light on the drama.
Head wounds are a bit freaky. Jack has an awful lot in common with Jacob--be forewarned. Some boys are just born TOUGH! Thanks for putting this on the blog, I've missed you guys.
Evan is so sweet. When I am having a bad day and wondering why we wanted a second baby I just think of Evan.
You are so positive. Having boys really is quite different than girls. You are definitely the right one for the job. Thanks for your great example. I hope delivery goes well.
